The Foothills Bluegrass Music Society is a volunteer run organization that supports bluegrass and adjacent music styles in southern Alberta through jams, workshops, concerts and partnerships with local and regional like minded individuals and organizations.

We believe in creating opportunities and spaces to learn and play bluegrass and related traditional music. Through our annual Shady Grove festival and concerts we support local and regional performing artists by providing a unique venue for amazing talent you might never get to hear in person otherwise.

Weekly Jam Sessions
7:00 - 10:00 pm

Join us for open bluegrass and old time jamming every Tuesday beginning the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association (917 Centre Ave NE Calgary AB T2E 0C6).

The 2026/27 jam season will run every Tuesday from October 6, 2026 to April 27, 2027 (with the exception of December 22 & 29, 2026 - we'll be taking a break to enjoy the holiday season!

Monthly Beginner Jam Sessions
7:00 - 9:00 pm

Beginner jams will be hosted the first Tuesday of every month at the Bridgeland-Riverside Community Association (917 Centre Ave NE Calgary AB T2E 0C6).

Our dates for the 2026/27 season are: October 6th, November 3rd, December 1, January 5, February 2, March 2, April 6. The beginner jams will be hosted by an experience FBMS jammer and feature gentler tempos and opportunities for learning and discussion.

The beginner jams will run from 7-9PM and participants are encouraged to stick around for the final hour of the night to join in and test their skills in one of the more advanced jams!

Shady Grove Music Festival

The Shady Grove festival has been running annually for over 30 years delivering top notch performances, workshops and jamming. The 2026 festival will be taking place July 17 - 19, 2026.
